If you are not yet familiar with the World of Wilhelmine, then it´s about time to discover it! Enchanting palaces, fairytale gardens and a UNESCO site await you!

Back in the 18th century Margravine Wilhelmine, one of the most remarkable woman of her time, turned Bayreuth into a centre of art and culture.  The palaces and parks dating back to this era make Bayreuth the splendid baroque gem and a milestone in the art and cultural history of Germany.

Margravial Opera House
The Margravial Opera House is considered the most beautifully preserved baroque theatre worldwide. In 2012 the Opera House has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Opening hours: daily from 9 am – 6 pm during the summer months and from 10 am – 4 pm in winter.

New Palace
What makes the New Palace unique is the unusual design of its rooms and Bayreuth’s New Palace is considered to be one of the most prestigious examples of 18th century German architecture.

Hermitage
The hermitage is a historic palace and grounds of European significance. Back in 1735 Margravine Wilhelmine began the systematic development of the old hermitage. She had the old palace remodelled and introduced a music room and a asian cabinet, she had the new palace built complete with a central sun temple and a semi-circular orangery surrounding a large basin with statues and fountains. The unique colouring of the sun temple and the orangery is created by numerous pieces of stained glass and quartz that decorate the facade.

Summer Night Festival
An absolute event highlight is the Summer Night Festival which is held in the Hermitage every Year in Summer. Wonderful illumination and live music on 4 stages attract thousands of visitors.
