6 Day Tour from Reykjavik to Reykjavik

With its glaciers, icebergs, geothermal areas, roaring rivers, majestic waterfalls, and beautiful lakes, Iceland is a country steeped in breathtaking natural wonders. On this Iceland tour, you'll witness these natural wonders while enjoying fun and unique experiences. 

Scenic highlights include Iceland’s most famous waterfall, mighty Gullfoss, which plummets down 105 feet over two stages into a rugged canyon. Drive through the national park at Skaftafell and stop at Lake Jökulsárlón, the deepest lake in Iceland. Watch how Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull, flows into the lake and forms icebergs. Another scenic drive gives you the opportunity to see Skogafoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s biggest waterfalls, and Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, which is a unique waterfall with a foot path behind it.

Throughout this Iceland tour, Globus has also included some out-of-the-ordinary experiences to make your vacation unique. In Thingvellir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, walk through the rift valley that marks the separation between the North American and European tectonic plates. In Geysir, walk with the chef of the Geysir restaurant through the geothermal areas, where you'll taste freshly baked bread cooked using the heat from the hot springs. You'll wash it down with a glass of geysir schnapps. Another unique and unforgettable experience Globus offers is a boat cruise to see whales in their natural habitat! You’ll also visit Hellisheiðavirkjun, one of the world’s largest geothermal power stations.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Reykjavik, Iceland

Welcome to Reykjavik! At 6 pm, meet your Tour Director and traveling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel.

Day 2: Reykjavik

An early morning optional excursion is available to the Blue Lagoon. In the afternoon, embark for an unforgettable experience: Globus Local Favorite watch whales in their natural habitat!

Day 3: Reykjavik – Thingvellir – Geysir – Gullfoss – Kirkjubæjarklaustur

After a drive through pretty Reykjavik, continue to Thingvellir, a geological paradise. Here, Globus Local Favorite walk through the rift valley that marks the separation between the North American and European tectonic plates. Next, stop at the hot springs at Geysir for a real treat: meet the chef of the Geysir restaurant and walk with him to the geothermal areas. Globus Local Favorite Taste freshly baked bread, which is cooked using the heat from the hot springs, with Icelandic butter, boiled eggs and herring, and a glass of geysir schnapps, served at freezing point. Marvel at Globus Local Favorite the mighty Gullfoss waterfall.

Day 4: Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Excursion to Skaftafell National Park & Lake Jökuls

Drive through the national park at Skaftafell and Globus Local Favorite stop at Lake Jökulsárlón, where some of the most spectacular scenes of the James Bond movie Die Another Day were filmed. Watch how the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull, flows into the lake, forming icebergs. An exciting optional boat trip through the icebergs is available before returning to your hotel.

Day 5: Kirkjubæjarklaustur–Skogafoss–Seljalandsfoss–Hellisheiðarvirkjun–Reykjav

Enjoy a spectacular drive along Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls on your way to Hellisheiðarvirkjun, where you will visit the geothermal heat and electric POWER STATION. Return to Reykjavik and tonight, enjoy a special farewell dinner at one of the city’s fine restaurants to celebrate the success of your Icelandic vacation.
