More than just Neuschwanstein Castle: Enjoy the tree tops adventure on the banks of the River Lech in Füssen.

The Bavarian holiday resort of Füssen is well known for being conveniently located close to the Palace of Neuschwanstein. Nature lovers listen up: the town now boasts a tree tops adventure on the banks of the River Lech just a stone’s throw from the town’s romantic and historic centre.

Some 480m long, the graceful wooden walkway soars up to 20 m above the woodland floor affording new perspectives of the woodland canopy and vistas over the river Lech to the majestic mountains that surround the town. Tree tops walkers also unwittingly cross the border over into neighbouring Austria. This brand new tourist highlight is open daily from April to November from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The admission prices have been set very reasonably with families in mind with adults paying just € 4 per person and children under 16 can able to enjoy the walkway adventure for free. The planners have even been able to make the walkway accessible to people in wheelchairs as access is barrier free and a comfortable 1.8 m wide on average.

Free parking is available right next to both accesses to the walkway and there are even parking spaces for buses. Top tip: it is only a short walk from the tree tops walk to the Lech waterfall where the mountain river has cut its way through a narrow gorge. Visitors can enjoy the very best views from the iron bridge across the gorge. Free car and bus parking is also available.
