· About Escorted or Guided Tour
Globus

Cruise along the peaceful Danube River through Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and Germany—stopping at some of Central Europe’s most splendid capitals and charming towns along the way. You’ll be joined by a local beer expert who will give lectures and tastings on board. He’ll take you on a pub crawl and host a food and beer-pairing dinner on board. And there are visits to family-owned breweries in Vienna and Passau, where you of course get to taste their beer!

Begin this timeless European river cruise in Budapest, where guided sightseeing acquaints you with the highlights of the vibrant capital of Hungary, such as Heroes Square, Fishermen’s Bastion, and Chain Bridge. Set sail on the Danube, take pictures of the impressive Parliament Building as you leave Budapest, and head for Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Enjoy a guided walk and visit gothic St. Martin’s Cathedral. Vienna, Austria, the “City of Music,” makes an immediate impression with its lavish Hofburg Imperial Palace and neo-renaissance Vienna Opera House. Enjoy the magnificent views of the picturesque Wachau Valley, with stops for a guided walk in Dürnstein, a visit to the impressive Benedictine Abbey of Melk, and a tasting of some of the renowned local wines. A guided walk will take you around Passau, Germany, uniquely located where the Inn, Ilz, and Danube rivers converge, and known for its maze of narrow cobblestone streets lined with beautiful patrician houses and St. Stephen’s Cathedral, a masterpiece of baroque architecture.

Say goodbye to your ship’s crew and head for Regensburg, one of Germany’s best-preserved cities. Lovers of architecture will delight in the treasure this town has to offer. Enjoy a tasting of local sausages before heading to beautiful Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, where this Danube river cruise vacation concludes. Known as the “Golden City,” a Local Guide will show you the must-see sights, such as St. Vitus Cathedral and Old Town’s medieval Astronomical Clock, a unique and intricate piece of art unlike anything else in the world.
